The network activities support the information exchange concerning general conditions in the Indian and German water and wastewater sectors. Furthermore project ideas will be discussed. Based on the most promising ideas, teams will be formed to concretize projects and their boundary conditions, e.g. financing.

Further Workshops in India are planned to intensify information exchange, networking and project implementation. At the moment the selection of the workshop locations is in progress. German research delegation in India
From 7th to 13th March 2010 a top-class German research delegation was sent to India by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The main destinations of the delegation have been the Indian boom region around Bangalore and the Indian capital city New Delhi. The Indo-German Water network was represented by the German Foundation Members Dr. Martina Scheer (Engineering Consultants Scheer), Mr. Gerald Angermair (tandler.com ltd.) and Mr. Manuel Krauß (University of Stuttgart).
In cooperation with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) the BMBF organized the innovative technology conference EmTech India 2010 (www.emtechindia.in). Dr. Martina Scheer presented the focal point Water Supply and Wastewater Systems as chairperson as well as lecturer with great success. The title of her presentation was "Integrated Wastewater Management". Furthermore Mr Gerald Angermair presented "IT based Planning, Simulation and Operation of Sewerage, Water Supply and River Networks" and Mr. Manuel Krauß introduced the topic "Decentralized Water Treatment - Subterranean Arsenic Removal". The participants of the conference cover the whole area of water supply and wastewater systems. The participants include Professors from famous Universities like the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore as well as directors of engineering companies and high-ranking representatives of Boards and politically authorities.
In New Delhi the delegation attend an interactive meeting with the Parliamentary State Secretary Mr. Thomas Rachel (BMBF). In an internal workshop the delegation prepared the Road Map for future activities and affirmed the importance of technological and educational cooperation in research and industrial activities with the Indian partners.
